Show Us Your Life-Dinner Recipes

I read Kelly's Korner religiously. I have been following her since before she had her daughter and I absolutely love to read her! She is great! Every Friday she does a "Show Us Your Life" post with a new topic each week. I have thought of joining in on a couple of them that pertain to me but I seem to forget or get busy. Anywho today it is dinner recipes. I am sharing with ya'll one of my all time favorites! My Mother made it growing up and I loved it then and I make it because it is so simple and it reminds me of her. I enjoy making things that were her recipes since she is not still with me for us to cook together! I sure wish she was! I would give up everything to be able to!!!!!!
Chicken Escort is one of my all time, quick and easy recipes! I am going to be updating my cooking blog soon as I have been working on taking pictures of my cooking!

This is another one of my all time faves too! But I know ya'll don't need a recipe for that! We had this last week and my eyes are always bigger than my stomach when I make my Taco Salad! In case you are wondering about the dressing.....It is the Hidden Valley dressing mix in the packet that you add mayo and buttermilk to! That was another thing my Mom made for us growing up and I won't make it without it!
Here is another one of my SUPER simple meals! Pineapple-Teriyaki Chicken. Pour a bottle of Pineapple-Teriyaki sauce (found near dressings) over chicken and top with pineapple and bake til done and put over rice! It doesn't get any easier than this! The recipe is much better than the picture looks! Ha! I promise I do cook many more in-depth things but I had pictures of these on hand!
I hope you all do your post of your faves and link it to her blog so we can all get ideas and some great recipes. I probably have over 100 cookbooks in this house but I am still always on the hunt for a good recipe that I don't have to take all day to make!
Happy Friday!

Ice Cream and Their Dreams

I thought I would share with all you this that I just received in my email: I know we have two locations here in town. Enjoy a treat and help a cause!

Cold Stone Creamery supports the
Make-A-Wish Foundation of Georgia and Alabama!

Cold Stone Creamery® will host the "World's Largest Ice Cream Social," a fundraising event to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of America and its chapters across the country.

On Sept. 24, 2009, from 5-8 p.m., Cold Stone Creamery stores invite ice cream lovers to experience the joy of ice cream at a nostalgic event that promises wholesome family fun and lots of ice cream.

This year's celebration includes a 3-ounce Creation developed by 5-year-old wish child and 2009 Junior Tastemaster™ Jack. He combined sweet cream ice cream with brownie, sprinkles and fudge to create his special treat.

From 5-8 p.m., customers will receive a 3-ounce serving of Jack's Creation in exchange for a donation to this worthy cause. Donations that night and all month long will benefit the local chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, an organization that grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.

Krazy Kanye

Argh...I am soo tired of Kanye and his antics! He always has something to say and it is usually uncalled for! He puts his two sense in when it has not been asked for! A few weeks ago, in case any of you missed it, he named himself the new "King of Pop" since Michael Jackson has departed. Umm isn't the fans decision? Any who I feel sorry for poor Taylor and for Kanye himself for thinking he is better than everyone else! I hope he comes to his senses. Even his peers don't think too highly of him right now!

At A Stand Still

I am at a stand still on my blogging that I promised to do! Not because I am being lazy but because our computer is almost full and I can't download the almost 1000 pictures off of my camera! Argh! Cas and I are going to the good 'ol Best Buy to see if we can find a remedy (hopefully cheap) for this! I have recipes to share and most importantly I would like to share our pictures from our Mexico cruise and my birthday in New Orleans!

On another note Fall t.v. is starting up! Jay Leno comes back tonight and I am sooo glad because I do not really like Conan and never have.
Cas and I are also really really excited because the Biggest Loser starts back tomorrow night! We started watching that together after we moved in this house together and that is one of the shows that we both love and enjoy watching together! We have also started watching the Shark Tank that will come on the same night. It is where people have a unknown product and they try to convince investors to give them money for a certain percentage in their company. Pretty interesting! Happy Monday!

What t.v. shows are you most excited about?

Just When You Think.....

It is going to be a good descent night because you hear and sing to "It's Gonna Be A Goodnight" by the Black Eyed Peas on your way home...... It happens----You realize heh maybe it is not going to be such a good night. What tells me that you ask. Well when you are carrying the pizza sauce, that you just bought no less that 30 minutes ago, to the pantry to put away and it gracefully plummets to the floor shattering and exploding causing there to be pizza sauce fireworks from the kitchen all the way to the den! It the midst of this glass was all over the place and sauce went everywhere possible including in the crack of the back door, all over the pantry, covered the floor and even so nicely made it on to my chair in the den. Just flipping grand! It also covered my feet and legs and the bottom of my pants. Apparently the glass bottle was thoughtful enough to cut me up to as I realized this when I looked down and was bleeding from both legs! The bottle was not that big to have that BIG of a mess! Wow starting this pizza tradition on Friday's isn't going so well!
*The bottle that was harmed was for next Friday night as I had bought two! Now I get to add that back to the shopping list! I will post pics of our pizza when uploaded!

Always Has to Have the Last Scratch

We did Pet-A-Cures around here tonight and this little guy wasn't happy about it!

I was holding them and Cas was clipping and he got loose and scratched the **** heck out of me!

This isn't a good picture as I took it with my phone. I know I look very scary without make-up!  There is two deep scratches and when I put make up on it looks like Halloween make-up! Swell!

A Birthday Suprise

When we came in at midnight from our trip I found this note from my friend Renea!
Then found a cute pink gift bag with this in it! A great Ben and Jerry's recipe book with any kind of ice cream in it that you could want to make and these super cute ice cream bowls!
Then there was a note in it to open the freezer! Renea made me homemade Key Lime Pie ice cream! She knows I love Key Lime Pie and really love Key Lime Pie Ice Cream! Isn't she the best!
Just earlier in the day I feasted on this at LuLu's in Gulf Shores!
Yummy! It was so nice to come home and find this birthday treat! It was nice to be thought of. Some people don't even call you on your birthday anymore!

Fix It and Forget It

I love to cook in the crock pot especially if I am having a group of people for dinner or if I am going to be gone late in the day. This way it is ready to eat and I don't have to come straight in and start cooking. The biggest reason is it is EASY but still tastes great! Fall is coming up and I am already wanting to make Chili and Taco Soup. I had been looking at this cookbook for a while and finally picked it up.The best part of this is everything has 5 ingredients. I am excited because they have a lot of tasty recipes that will be quick for me to throw in the trusty Rival (I have my Mother's crock pot) crock pot. I am all about it looking great and tasting great without having to stand in the kitchen all afternoon! I will share some with you when I make them.

What is your favorite dish to make in the crock pot? I would love to know and maybe you would share the recipe too?!!!

P.S. There are ribs in the crock pot today with some of my favorite seasonings on them.......You must try Penzy's spices! Today I am using Barbecue of the America's and Barbecue 3000!

Maybe They Had Too Much Salt Water

In between vacuuming dust bunnies the size of cats and sucking up spiders webs (it is amazing what inhabits your home while you are gone) I thought I would get in a couple of blogs. I just would like to point out that if you have low self esteem take a cruise! There is always some one on board that will make you think things could be worse. I am not talking about folks....I am just sayin! So I was in the main restaurant the other day waiting in line at the ice cream station....yep they have 24 hour soft serve ice cream! That in itself is just joyous but anyways these two ladies were in front of me and the first lady was fixin' her cone and told her friend that she should try that one too as it was the only one that had Strawberry (this one was Yogurt and the other two were Ice Cream). The friend saw the signs that said Fat Free Strawberry and Fat Free Chocolate under each of the respective flavors and she sighed and said yeah but I don't really like Fat Free. Well the middle one (as anyone with a Kindergarten certificate knows) just said Strawberry and Chocolate. The friend serious (dumb) as can be looked at the other friend and said well this one, pointing to the middle isn't FAT FREE! So the other friend trotted on over and made her a cone! The machine didn't need a sign~She did! Really? Everyone knows that what comes out of the middle is from the left and right sides right????? So that would make the middle FAT FREE!
Moving on......when we got on the cruise we headed to each lunch because that is really all you can do because they are still getting rooms ready. They play the news in the main restaurant. I noticed it was the news out of Denver and then they have something like CNN or something of that nature going which also has the time at the bottom from the Denver time zone. I do not know how they decide on which time zone, news to broadcast, I guess maybe it has something to do with what signals they pick up, etc. but anywho......we were at dinner one night and a couple that we ate with that was from Arkansas said they had been talking to another couple earlier in the day from Denver none the less and they commented on "How cool it is that they personalize the news in your room from where you are from!" Dear Lord.....do you really think that is someones job to sit there on the day everyone boards and program everyone's room to get their own personal news! Wow!

There is also a little top 10 of questions that have been asked on Carnival ships. Our Cruise Director told them at a show as our last Cruise Director dis as well! Here are a few:
* What do they do with the ice sculpture when it melts?
*Does the elevator go from the front of the boat to the back?
*Do you have generators on board?
*How do I know which pictures are mine?

Some people..............

From Ship to Shore

We are on dry land! Sigh......I could have stayed gone for another week! We arrived home around midnight Saturday night after stopping off in Gulf Shores to eat dinner. We have basically slept since we have been home as we were very tired! We met some great people and ate and ATE a TON! I am slowly working on getting pictures downloaded (I took close to 1,000!). I will also do posts on what we did and where we went. I was a slacker and did not post on the Bahamas cruise from May! I will be working on all this in between the mounds of laundry and sweeping up and mopping and so on.........the cats have been here all week furring things up (Thank you Jason and Renea and Drew for checking on them)! So needless to say I have a good bit to do and I am moving slow (I am 30 now you know...can't do as much as I could when I was in my 20's)! Hope everyone has had a great week and I have already been reading some blogs from the bed on Cas's blackberry! So much happens in a week!

P.S. I will also be working on my recipe blog and Maggie's blog (with her help of course) when she returns home tomorrow! We have missed her sooooo much and I have some fun things in store for her tomorrow!
